John, I'll go item by item: Item 1: When have I ever said I wasn't clear on how to proceed on CR319? I was expecting DL to have time to also work with the new filtering system to aid me in evaluating it. When he isn't given the time to work with the new code I can't expect him to be able to aid me in evaluating it's effectiveness. I also want to convey my anger at your not responding directly to my email as well. Item 2: I don't know where you get that I'm in the third week of work on CR319. I have logged roughly 70 hours so far not including this week. Let me put my head down and do my job instead of dealing with this micromanagement. I'm sure that multiple hours have been lost to this alone. Item 3: We've successfully divided work many times in the past without your hard documentation and I believe we can continue to do so. We work and communicate well as a team and would like to be allowed to continue to manage our own work distributions when collaborating on a project. And for your final remark: I am very angry that you twisted my email to say that DL is unavailable to me. He is anything but unavailable to me but his time to work on this project has been repeatedly redirected to more urgent tasks. I have noticed this is a trend. Any time an issue is raised it tends to fall like an axe on whoever raised it and to at least some other collateral damage target. This needs to change or this team will cease to function properly. I'm ready to talk whenever you all are. Lee "Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place. Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are, by definition, not smart enough to debug it." - Brian W. The only pice of work we have agreed is the work for Arthur as per our discussion and you advised that you would do this during the database rebuild you carried out today. The other piece of work involving Sub areas will be next week not this week. If I have set the wrong expectation with Karen I will resolve this with her tomorrow. In respect to what I want to see for CR319: Item 1 - Lee has been saying that he is not clear on exactly how this will be achieved and from his email he has advised he needs "to get your opinion/help on a few things" Item 2 - Lee is now in his 3rd week of working on this and I need some assurance that progress is being made towards completion in line with the October Release schedule. Item 3 - To allow us to understand and you to be able to control delivery of 319, I want to see a listing (doesn't have to be a long winded document, you could even use DW's listing) showing each of the pieces of work and who will be carrying out the work. You refer to chunking up the code, if that is the structure you want to use that would also be fine. The aim is to have a plan so that everyone, especially the developers are clear on what they have to produce, in what sequence and by when. So apart from a 30 minute meeting earlier today and you agreeing to do the Arthur work (3-4 hours) in parallel to the database build you had already scheduled, you should have been on 319 for the rest of the time since the Development meeting on Monday and available to continue on it tomorrow/Friday. Finally I am concerned with the email from Lee saying that it is impossible to get your assistance. If there are other demands on your time apart from those we have agreed you must advise me as my current understanding/expectation is that you are dedicated to 319 this week. Please drop me an email when you come online tomorrow and I will open up my bridgeto make sure we are clear on this. This afternoon's email from Karen with meeting notes indicated I was working on the management code mapping today. I conferred with her who acknowledged you said it was. I thought I had until next week but was hoping to get to it tomorrow. I then spent the rest of the afternoon working towards setting up an environment for Arthur to test the change. I spent about 3 hours on CR319 today. I do not understand what you want for the first two items. For the third, I assume you want something similar to what DW presented on the ExtJS upgrade. That document took 7 hours of my time and several days of DW's time. Our plan was to chunk up the controller code to different developers, log all calls to the filter functions and change them, then sweep back thru for cleanup and changes for constant currency would be made as we went. If you want a document like DW presented we will need a while to find all of the queries, evaluate the change required, determine the effort level for them, and find a way to present it. The system will be fundamentally broke until a large percentage of the changes are made - or at least what would work versus not work would be difficult to quantify since we cannot easily guarantee all queries needed for a certain feature would be migrated at the same time. The steps I have noted are: • Finalising how the new functionality will be delivered • Ensure that Lee (and Bruce/Paul) complete the development work in the agreed timeframes • Produce a plan/listing of development packages that can be distributed to the wider development team Thanks John John Coman ROLF - Project Director FT/SCE/EQUANT/GLOBAL SERVICES/CENTRAL MARKETING AND BUS OPS/CSI PROJ MGMT OFFICE tél. +44 208 321 1877 mob. +44 7818 041 677 john.coman@orange-ftgroup.com ******************************************************************************** IMPORTANT.Les informations contenues dans ce message electronique y compris les fichiers attaches sont strictement confidentielles et peuvent etre protegees par la loi.
